"Market Local at Sal's"
The daily CSX Hunts Point Market Local heads east through the sidewalk of Sal's Scrap Metal just before descending back towards the Northeast Corridor. This is one of 3 busy industries that the train must pass through in order to get to the line's only customer, the Hunts Point Cooperative Market. What's unique about this line is that when train enters the branch, it must hold to allow workers to clear the tracks of any scrap debris and scrap handling equipment before proceeding down the rest of the line. The second the train clears, the scrappers continue their work until the train comes back out again.
